Carnegie House - Textiles with Alison Moger
This series of taster workshops delivered by local Textile Artist Alison Moger will cover the basics of different textile skills over six weeks, resulting in a small portfolio of work.
Session OneMindful stitching using appliqué stitch and a mix of fabrics to create a small sample.
Session TwoNeedle felting to create a small image (bring along an image you would like to try) this could be turned into a brooch.
Session Three Heat transfer exploring this exciting method of transfering natural fauna into an image you could then transfer onto a greetings card.
Session Four Hand embroidery exploring the use of traditional stitch please bring along a small embroidery hoop (home bargains have them) all other materials will be provided silks/vintage fabrics and needles.
Session FiveLearning how to turn magazine paper into a textile that you can stitch into using the text as an art form.
Session SixWe will be working on all the pieces previously produced in the workshops to produce a mixed media piece of work to be framed and also explore free-stitch within your work, this can be discussed over the course of the sessions.I will provide a sewing machine but also feel free to bring your own if you ca
