Sun Kings
The Sun Kings play an exotic yet rough and British-sounding blend of cumbia, samba and other Latin styles. The observational song-writing takes cues from everything from Two Tone and Ian Dury, to Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Tom Waits and Lily Allen.
Their highly energetic and participative stage show and Latin rhythms are sure to get the audience dancing and they are regulars at venues such as The Canteen in Bristol, The Bell Inn in Bath and Porter’s in Cardiff. Last year their run of festivals included Glastonbury and Camp Bestival.
They feature seasoned festival performers including main songwriter Dan Nichols (Railroad Bill, Punks Not Dad), Sallie Maclennan leader of Barracwda Samba, Charlie Francis (Robyn Hitchcock, The High Llamas), Rob Smith (Wonderbrass, Heavy Quartet) and Rob Nichols of Junior Bill.
“What a joy it was to have The Sun Kings performing on our stage at Camp Bestival. An injection of Colombian sunshine with a serving of ska, served on a rhythm and blues plate, Delicious. They’ll be welcome back anytime!” – Greg Butler, Curator, Big Pigs Ballroom, Camp Bestival
