Make a splash with adrenaline spiking adventure activities at Porthcawl's newly unveiled state-of-the-art £1.5m water sports centre.
Are you a budding surfing sensation, or would you rather explore the surrounding area by bike? Maybe you simply want to walk across the sandy beach with a warming hot drink in hand; Rest Bay's brand new water sports centre is now open and ready to help you experience the UK's fastest-growing seaside adventure destination.
Local experts Porthcawl Surf School are able to call the new centre their permanent home, enabling keen sea-goers the chance to ride the wild waters with lessons and equipment hire every day of the year (excluding Christmas Day).
If surfing isn't your style - don't worry! The watersports centre is stocked full of sea-faring kit such including stand up paddleboards.
If you would rather an alternate adventure, choose your wheels and set out on the fleet of over thirty vehicles including mountain bikes, fat bikes, e-bikes, California cruisers and a beach wheelchair. Take on the usually tough sands of the Kenfig dunes with the extra-thick tired 'fat bikes'. Learn about the mythical lands of the sands with tours based on the legends of the area.
Give back to nature with collaborative community beach cleans and environmental education courses to maximise ocean and outdoor literacy for both the old and the young.
If high-speed bike rides or aquatic adventures aren't your speed, the centre's cafe will soon serve warming hot drinks and sweet treats to fuel you up for a peaceful walk across the stretching sandy beach.
Built thanks to £1.5m of EU funding via the Welsh Government's Tourism Attractor Destination programme, the centre offers a variety of outdoor adventures throughout every season. Plan your next adventure, learn more at www.visitwales.com/product/1821303
